I am continuously frustrated by the complete mismanagement of the City of Davis. The Mace Street Mess, the new complex parking misinformation, businesses and individuals in permit approval purgatory and now the G Street Embarrassment…just to name a few of the more current examples. In all these cases above city commissions and individuals have come forward with workable solutions. Davis city management stubbornly refuses to listen to the advice of community members until there is a public uproar
I agree. We lived through the Mace mess, in which the city did little consulting with the people affected. The result is they had to tear most of that project out, and it’s never been fixed completely satisfactorily. Now here we go again. The G Street outdoor dining has been working well as is; just witness the crowds there any evening. Now the city wants to repurpose the street without consultation. What’s planned will not get used. G Street could certainly use some beautifying, but not a wholesale wrecking. This is outrageous.

Why is the City undertaking construction of facilities when the nature and use of the space has not been fully defined?
