Delays for coffeehouse and Ethiopian food

I’m back from vacation with lots of updates. Read on.
→ No rush: The future Frenzy Coffee Co. is in no hurry to make its debut. I keep getting tips that it’s open because its neon “COFFEE” sign facing B Street is frequently lit. Confusing, I know. It fills the former La Piñata space at 305 First St., Davis.
I spoke with one of the people there on Thursday. She said Frenzy has passed all its inspections. They are just putting the final touches on some merchandise and displays. Her best guest was that it would open in early January.
→ Escrow issues: I checked in with Wondimagegn Shewa, one of the owners of the future Taffach Ethiopian Restaurant. Escrow complications have delayed its opening. He said the sale is progressing but it hasn’t cleared yet. He promised he’d let me know when it did.
It fills the former Bones Craft Kitchen space at 113 D St. in Davis.
